We are an American Homebrew Association Club based in Indianapolis, IN that was formed in August of 2011.
MONK meets on the third Saturday of every month from 6-9 pm. We typically discuss a BJCP beer style, talk about its characteristics, how to make a good homebrew version, and then sample great commercial examples as well as homebrewed ones.
But that’s not all we do. MONK also meets up every first Wednesday for Pub Night, where we just hang out and drink good beer. Check out our events section for times and locations. We also hit up a local brewery or other beer-related locations for “Field Trips”.
Not enough? Well, MONK does all manner of fun brewing experiments, for example, we have used a 62 gallon Bourbon Barrel that we blended homebrew for aging. We have a Sour Barrel full of 62 gallons of Oude Bruin that has been aging for 6 months and needs maybe 6 more. We also do experiments with yeast, hops, grain, and we’re always looking for new ideas.
We throw some killer parties as well. MONK Chili Bowl pitting members against each other for the supreme Beer Chili AND Chili Beer. The winner’s Chili will be entered in the Our Lady of Lourdes Irvington Chili Cook-Off the following year. Prices Right-style WHEEL OF MISFORTUNE ® with an array of unusual ingredients for teams to brew and be judged for the best beer brewed with these ingredients.
So if you’re interested first and foremost in improving your homebrew, and also in having some fun while doing so, head over to the membership page to join our club or come on out to a pub night to find out what we are all about. You can also check us out on Facebook as well as Twitter.
Thanks for stopping by and checking us out.
